1. Confirm it's safe and quote in person. Cody looks at the ceiling, confirms the home's age and whether a lab test is needed first, and scopes the room. That in-person look is what the number is built on, not a square-foot guess over the phone. 2. Seal and protect the room. Ceiling scraping is a wet, messy job. Before anything comes down, we mask the walls, cover and tape the floors, and move or wrap furniture. Wet-scraping keeps dust down, but the protection is what keeps the rest of the room clean. 3. Wet-scrape the texture. We lightly mist the texture and scrape it off in sections. Wetting it softens the material and cuts airborne dust compared with dry-scraping, and it comes off cleaner without gouging the drywall underneath. 4. Skim-coat flat and sand. This is the step that decides the finish. Scraping alone leaves a rough, patchy ceiling with trowel marks and old texture shadows. We skim-coat joint compound over the whole ceiling, then sand it smooth so it reads as one flat plane, not a scraped ceiling. 5. Prime and repaint. We prime the fresh skim coat, then roll on ceiling paint for an even, uniform finish. If a fixed roof leak left a stain, we spot-seal it with a stain-blocking primer first so it can't bleed back through. 6. Clean up and walk it with you. Furniture goes back, floors come clear, and we walk the room with you in daylight before we call it done.
