What we see across the city

Phoenix has four different paint problems, not one

Central Phoenix, the north-valley tracts, Ahwatukee, and the older block neighborhoods each fail in their own way. Knowing which one you've got is most of the estimate.
01

Mid-century block and ranch

Central Phoenix has a deep stock of painted concrete block and early ranch homes. Block is porous and it has usually been coated many times over, so the question is whether the old film is still bonded or whether it lets go the moment it gets washed. We test that before we quote, not after we start.
02

Two-story tract stucco

The newer north-valley and Ahwatukee tracts are almost all stucco over two stories. The prep is straightforward, but the access is not. Second-story elevations need real staging, and the quote has to account for it honestly instead of pretending a ladder covers it.
03

The south and west walls

Whatever the neighborhood, the sun-facing elevations fail years ahead of the shaded ones. That is why so many Phoenix houses look like two different ages of paint. We spec UV-resistant coatings for the exposed walls rather than treating all four elevations as the same job.
04

HOA palettes

Plenty of Phoenix neighborhoods run an approved color list, and plenty don't. Knowing which side of that line your street falls on before you pick a color saves a violation letter and a second repaint. We sort that out during the estimate.

Everything we do

The full range, from one Phoenix crew

Four steps, in this order, on every Phoenix job. The sequence is what separates a repaint that lasts from one that does not.

  1. 01
    1

    Cody walks the property

The owner does the estimate, not a salesperson. He checks each elevation for chalking, notes the stucco condition, flags failed caulk around windows and trim, and asks what you are actually trying to fix.

  2. 02
    2

You get a scope, not a range

What surfaces are included, what prep they get, what product goes on, what it costs. Anything outside the scope says so before you sign rather than arriving later as a change order.

  3. 03
    3

    Prep is the job

Wash, repair, caulk, prime. A finish coat over dusty or chalky stucco has nothing to grip. Every hour that does not look like painting is the hour that decides how long the paint lasts.

  4. 04
    4

    Coat it for this sun

UV-resistant exterior product rated for Arizona heat, specified for the sun-facing walls rather than treating all four elevations as the same job.

How we work

What a Novak estimate actually looks like

There is no mystery to this and no software between you and us. Here is the whole sequence.
01

Cody comes out and walks it

The owner does the estimate. He checks each elevation for chalking, looks at the stucco condition, finds the failed caulk lines, and asks what you're actually trying to fix. That walk is what the number is built from.
02

You get a scope, not a range

You'll know what surfaces are included, what prep they're getting, what product goes on, and what it costs. If something is outside the scope, it says so before you sign rather than showing up later as a change order.
03

Prep is the job

Wash, repair, caulk, prime. A finish coat over dusty or chalky stucco has nothing to grip and lets go in sheets within a couple of seasons. Every hour that looks like it is not painting is the hour that decides how long the paint lasts.
04

When we tell you not to hire us

If your last quality repaint was recent and you're seeing light fade on a single wall, that's a touch-up, not a whole-house job. We would rather say so and be the people you call in three years than sell you something you don't need today.

WHY NOVAK

Why the finish holds up.
It’s built in layers.

A paint job is only as good as the system underneath it.

Novak Painting Group treats scope, preparation, coating selection, and final inspection as one connected process, not separate tasks to rush through.

CLEAR SCOPE SURFACE-SPECIFIC PREP PHOENIX-READY COATINGS
THE NOVAK FINISH SYSTEM FOUR LAYERS FROM SUBSTRATE TO WALKTHROUGH

Scope before color

Surfaces, repairs, products, colors, access, and timing are defined before work begins.

The finish starts underneath

Protection, cleaning, repair, sanding, and priming create the surface the topcoat needs.

Chosen for Phoenix

Coatings are matched to the material, exposure, sheen, and demands of Arizona heat and sun.

Checked in the light it lives in

Coverage, edges, touchups, and the final walkthrough are handled with the same careful eye.

Frequently Asked

Frequently Asked Questions

Where in Phoenix is Novak Painting Group based? +
Our shop is at 1000 N 44th St, Phoenix, AZ 85008, just off the 202 on the east side of the city. That matters more than it sounds: because we're based in Phoenix rather than dispatching in from a franchise territory, Phoenix jobs are the shortest drive on our schedule. It usually means we can get out to estimate within a couple of days and start sooner. Call (715) 223-7083 and we'll find a time.
How much does it cost to paint a house in Phoenix? +
Honestly, nobody can tell you that without seeing the house. The number moves on square footage, how much stucco repair the walls actually need, how many stories and how much staging that requires, and whether you want one solid color or a body-trim-accent scheme. Two houses on the same street can quote very differently based on prep alone. That's exactly why the estimate is free and done on site. We look at your actual walls before we give you a number.
How long does exterior paint last in Phoenix? +
A properly prepped exterior repaint in Phoenix typically holds up 7 to 10 years. Rushed prep can cut that in half. UV is what breaks paint down here, so finish life comes down to whether the surface was washed, the stucco repaired, and the bare spots primed before a UV-resistant coating went on. The south and west elevations will always show wear first, which is why we spec for the sun-exposed walls rather than treating all four sides the same.
What painting services do you offer in Phoenix? +
We handle exterior repaints, interior painting, cabinet refinishing, stucco crack repair and repainting, deck staining and sealing, fence painting, and commercial and multifamily work. Because it's one crew across all of it, jobs that would normally need two contractors, like stucco repair plus an exterior repaint, get scoped and scheduled as a single job. Call (715) 223-7083 if you're not sure which one your project falls under.
Do you paint homes outside Phoenix? +
Yes. We work across Greater Phoenix, including Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Avondale, and Buckeye. Phoenix is home base, so city jobs get the fastest scheduling, but the crew covers the Valley. If you are not sure whether your address is in range, just ask and we will tell you straight rather than driving out and discovering it is a stretch.
Are you insured, and are estimates free in Phoenix? +
Novak Painting Group is bonded and insured, and every estimate is free. Owner Cody Novak comes out and quotes the work personally, so there's no call center and no commissioned salesperson between you and the crew that does the job. Call or text (715) 223-7083 and we'll set up a time to walk the property with you.
