Interior painting in Phoenix, clean and covered.

A single accent wall or a whole-home repaint, the part that goes wrong is the mess: overspray on the floors, ragged lines, furniture shoved into a corner for a week. We protect the space first, then paint it, and you get your rooms back the way you left them.

  • Floors, furniture, and fixtures masked and covered before a brush touches the wall
  • Owner Cody Novak quotes the job in person, so the scope is set before a crew shows up
  • Bonded and insured, locally owned across Greater Phoenix

Why the finish shows

What separates a clean interior repaint from a rushed one

Interior paint doesn't fail from the sun the way an exterior does. It fails on the details you live with up close: the lines, the coverage, and whether your house got wrecked in the process. Here's where the difference actually shows.
01

Protection before the first brushstroke

The fastest way to ruin an interior job is to skip the cover-up. We mask trim, drop and tape the floors, and move or wrap furniture before any paint is open. A repaint shouldn't leave you scrubbing speckle off the baseboards or the tile for a week after we go.
02

Clean lines where colors meet

The cut lines around ceilings, trim, and corners are what your eye lands on. Rushed taping and a loaded brush leave bleed and wavy edges. We cut by hand, tape where it earns its keep, and keep the lines crisp so the walls read finished, not close enough.
03

Real coverage, not one thin coat

Going dark-over-light or covering a bold accent wall in one pass leaves it patchy and streaky in daylight. We prime where the color change calls for it and lay down the coats the job actually needs, so the finish is even from every angle instead of only in the corner you checked.
04

The right sheen for the room

Flat hides wall flaws but scuffs in a hallway. High-gloss wipes clean on trim but shows every dent. Kitchens and baths want something that shrugs off moisture. We match the sheen to how the room gets used, not to whatever was left in the garage.

Our process

How we repaint a Phoenix interior

Here's how a Novak interior job actually runs, start to finish, so you're not guessing what you're paying for or when you get your rooms back.

1. Walk the rooms and quote in person. Cody comes out, looks at the actual walls, and talks through color, sheen, and how many rooms are in scope. That in-person quote is what the number is built on, not a square-foot guess over the phone. 2. Protect the space. Before any paint is open, we mask the trim, tape and drop the floors, and move or cover furniture. Fixtures and switch plates come off or get wrapped. This is the step rushed crews skip, and it's the one you notice most when it's skipped. 3. Prep the walls. We patch nail holes, dents, and cracks, sand the repairs smooth, caulk gaps where trim meets wall, and spot-prime the patches and any color-change areas so nothing telegraphs through the finish coat. 4. Cut and coat. We cut clean lines by hand around ceilings, trim, and corners, then roll the walls in the coats the color actually needs. Dark-over-light and bold accent walls get primed and doubled up so the coverage is even. 5. Clean up and walk it with you. Plates go back on, floors come clear, furniture returns to place, and we walk every room with you in daylight before we call it done.

On cost: nobody can quote an interior honestly without seeing it. What moves the number is how many rooms and how much wall area, ceiling height, how much patching and prep the walls need, whether you're doing a bold color change that needs priming, and whether trim, doors, and ceilings are included or just the walls. That's exactly why the estimate is free and done in person. Call (715) 223-7083 and we'll come look before quoting.

What you get

Single room or whole home, handled the same careful way

Whether it's one accent wall or every room in the house, the standard doesn't change: protect the space, prep the walls, cut clean, and leave it tidy. Here's what that covers, plus one honest note on when interior painting is the wrong call for the day.
01

Single-room and accent-wall repaints

A nursery before a due date, a home office, a bold accent wall, a bathroom that needs a moisture-friendly finish. Small jobs get the same masking, prep, and clean cut lines as a whole-home repaint. We don't phone in the little ones.
02

Whole-home interior repaints

Moving in or moving out, or just done with the builder-beige. Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and closets coordinated as one project so the sheens and colors flow room to room instead of looking pieced together over months. If the ceilings are still textured, we can scrape the popcorn off and skim them smooth as part of the same repaint so the whole room reads current.
03

Renovation and move-in painting

New drywall after a remodel, a fresh coat before the furniture arrives, or covering the last owner's color choices. Painting an empty house is faster and cleaner, so if you can time it before move-in, we'll help you plan the sequence.
04

When interior painting is the wrong call today

Straight talk: if you've got an active roof or plumbing leak staining a wall, don't paint over it yet. Fresh paint on a wet or still-leaking surface bubbles and stains right back through within weeks. Get the moisture source fixed and the wall dried out first, then call us. We'll tell you that in person rather than take the job before it's ready.

Interior painting across the Greater Phoenix area

We paint interiors throughout Phoenix and across the Valley: Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Avondale, and Paradise Valley. From older Central Phoenix homes with plaster and settling cracks to newer builds out in the West Valley with fresh drywall, we scope the walls in front of us and build the quote around what your rooms actually need. Doing a full refresh? We also handle cabinet refinishing and exterior painting across the same area. Not sure you're in range? Get in touch and we'll tell you straight.

WHY NOVAK

Why the finish holds up.
It’s built in layers.

A paint job is only as good as the system underneath it.

Novak Painting Group treats scope, preparation, coating selection, and final inspection as one connected process, not separate tasks to rush through.

Frequently Asked

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house in Phoenix? +
There's no honest flat figure, because no two houses need the same work. What moves the number is how many rooms and how much wall area, ceiling height, how much patching and prep the walls need, whether you're making a bold color change that needs priming, and whether trim, doors, and ceilings are in scope or just the walls. That's why we don't quote interiors sight unseen. The estimate is free and done in person so the number reflects your actual rooms. Call (715) 223-7083 to set one up.
What do painters lay down and cover before painting a room? +
Protection is the first real step, before any paint is open. We mask off the trim, tape and drop the floors with canvas or plastic runners, move or wrap furniture, and pull or cover switch plates, outlet covers, and light fixtures. Doorways and vents get sealed where overspray could travel. A clean interior job is decided here: if the space is covered properly, you're not scrubbing speckle off baseboards, tile, or countertops after the crew leaves.
Should I paint one room or the whole house interior? +
It depends on why you're painting. If you're refreshing a single tired room, fixing a nursery before a due date, or adding an accent wall, a single-room job is the right call and we treat it with the same masking and clean cut lines as a big one. If you're moving in, moving out, or finally done with the builder-beige throughout, a whole-home repaint lets us coordinate colors and sheens so they flow room to room instead of looking pieced together. Painting an empty house before move-in is faster and cleaner, so timing matters too.
When should you not paint the interior of a house? +
Don't paint over an active problem. If a wall has water staining from a roof or plumbing leak that isn't fixed and dried out yet, fresh paint bubbles and stains right back through within weeks. Same with visible mold. Fix the moisture source, let the surface fully dry, and treat any mold first, then repaint. It's also worth timing an interior repaint before you move furniture in when you can, since an empty room is faster to protect and cleaner to work. We'll flag any of this in person before we quote.
How long does it take to paint a room or a whole home interior? +
A single room is typically a one to three day job depending on prep, color change, and whether ceilings and trim are included. A whole-home interior repaint runs longer and depends on the number of rooms, ceiling heights, and how much patching the walls need. Because Phoenix interiors run dry and warm, coats flash off quickly, which helps the schedule move. We give you a realistic timeline as part of the in-person estimate so you know when you get your rooms back.
Are you insured, and are estimates free? +
Novak Painting Group is bonded and insured, and every estimate is free. Owner Cody Novak comes out and quotes the interior work personally, so there's no call center and no commissioned salesperson between you and the crew doing the job. Call or text (715) 223-7083 for a straight answer on what your rooms take.
